Losing our freedoms with every thing he touches! I haven’t been keeping up on Obama’s universal health care plan as much as I should have. Today I finally was able to find clear details on this health care bill that he passed on Tuesday, without any republican votes I might add.Grrrrrr. This makes me sooooooo mad!! I want to scream! I’m not going to reprint the article, but I’ll just give you the link so you can go and read it.

Friends,, we are being FORCED to comply with this plan! Every person in this country is going to be forced to have health insurance by 2014 whether you want it or not, or else,, wait for it,,,, PAY A FINE! Employers are going to be forced to offer health insurance to thier employees,, or else,,,PAY A FINE of around $2000 per employee!!
Where is our freedom in this!! Taxes are going to go up, we’re going to be forced to pay health insurance. We’re going to be paying insurance for people who are too lazy to work. More than likely we are going to be paying for people to have abortions too! This is an absolutely absurd health care plan! What happened to “Government of the people, by the people, for the people” (Abraham Lincoln) No,no, that must be a mistake… because it seems like today it is “of the government, by the government, for the government”
I’m sorry,,, actually, no, I’m not sorry,, but anyway,,, this is just stupid. It really is. We don’t hardly get to vote on anything anymore! Shouldn’t we the people get to have a say in something so important? After all, this is OUR country. Not the Barak Obama country!! He is not a dictator…at least not yet…….
Whatever your stand is on this Obama universal health care plan, You should be FURIOUS that You didn’t get vote on a bill that will have such a HUGE impact on our lives!!
I welcome your opinions on this topic,, but I will not tolerate rude or hurtfull comments, so please, Play Nice :)
Edited March 27, 2010:
Ok, I think I need to clear some things up here. I was writing my thoughts down at the time, and I probably didn’t go into enough explanation with some of them. This is a personal blog, and I don’t claim to be the expert on political things, but I know what I believe and that’s what I write.
First off- I do agree that the health care system needs an overhaul. What our president has signed into effect is NOT the answer though.
Second- I do know that we already are paying for others healthcare and welfare and what not, And I am in favor of helping those who are truly in need and can’t help themselves, but I am not in favor of my tax dollars going for helping those who won’t help themselves and won’t work and are just mooching off the system.
I believe we need a better system for healthcare and welfare.
Third: Just because my tax dollars are already going toward that stuff(and as I stated above, I’m not totally against it-with the exception of abortion), does not make it ok to keep adding more! Just because our freedoms are already diminished does not mean that we can’t rally to get those freedoms back.
Fourth: Republican or Democrat- we could go back and forth all day about this, both have thier flaws, but the point is that the government has gotten too big for it’s britches and something needs to be done about it. Many democrats are against this bill too, I might add.
It’s so sad that you write without thinking. Don’t you know that you are already paying for people who don’t have health care, don’t you know that your dollars already go for abortions? Aren’t you concerned about the health insurance companies that take away your freedoms by deciding what medications and procdures you can have, and telling your doctors how to treat you? Your freedoms are already gone, and who do we have to thank for that? The last 8 years of republican domination that allowed big business to walk all over the middle class. How many bills did they pass without democratic support? Wake up and look at what the republican hate is doing…not caring for those who can’t care for themselves isn’t very christian…or smart. Everyone ends up paying more in the long run.
To answer some of your questions, I added to my post, since I realize I didn’t explain myself as clearly as I should have the first time.
Good for you. Putting your opinion out in the open is an integral part of our country. I too do not think that the bill that was just passed is the answer to a lot of healthcare problems. It reminds me of the seatbelt law in Alabama (that’s where I live). Everyone in a car is required by law to wear a seatbelt. I am not arguing that seatbelts are bad news. I am simply stating that as a responsible adult, I should know to put my seatbelt on without having the government tell me to do it or suffer a fine/ticket.
On a regular basis, I tell my children that it is not my job to do everything for them. My job is to teach them to do everything for themselves. I believe in personal responsibility.
Thank you Amanda and Jennifer! I really appreciate it. Makes me feel much better!
Amanda: Here in Oregon we have strong seat belt laws too. I’m on the fence with that law though. I don’t like government telling us what to do in our own personal lives, but the seat belt thing is definately a good idea. I guess it also involves child safety too and many people may forget or just not heed to it if there wasn’t a penalty. I don’t know. I know my mom was very against it when I was little and the law was passed here, but she also never wore her seatbelt untill then(she didn’t wear it for while after that in protest too. LOL, but she does now).
My big concern is,, did the people get to vote on it? I don’t remember. I’ll have to look it up. I may not like certain laws that are passed, but I especially can’t stand when they are passed without even allowing us to vote on it! Where’s the democracy in that?!
Anyway, I appreciate everyones comments.
I think I will follow your blog after this post. I agree totally with you. I think one place they need to start is not offering health care or any type of government help if someone cant pass a drug test. That there alone would cut what we spend in half. I work HARD everyday to pay my health ins and if I have to do it then everyone should have to get out there and pay for there own ins. The problem today is people do not have their priorities inline they spend there money on other things instead of health ins. People can afford it they would just rather have fun with there money. I sell health ins and it really is not that bad for most people. It cost less than my cell bill a month!!! Last thing I have to say is if they make it a law that small business have to offer health ins to employees or pay a fine you are going to see more people losing there jobs. More small business will be closing!!
Now that will help the economy!!
I think that obama is doing a great job, but he needs to stop bowing all the time
I can’t find how to subscribe to the comments via my reader . I want to keep abrest of this, how do I do that?
